London hotel group The Wesley has achieved Gold accreditation from Investors In People (IIP), as well as a Green Tourism Gold Award. Recognition of its strong people management followed a wide-ranging accreditation process and “rigorous” examination of its commitment to staff that was conducted over recent months by IIP.

The process involved interviews with The Wesley employees, and a close analysis of the hotel group’s key performance indicators and steps to “create and ensure the best possible environment for its workforce”.

An internationally recognised award, the Gold IIP accreditation highlights organisations that “demonstrate a proven commitment to delivering a positive work environment for their staff”.

The announcement that The Wesley secured the people management accreditation follows the recent news that it also won The Green Tourism Gold Award, an achievement that recognises businesses for their sustainable practices and reducing their environmental impact.

The London hotel group currently operates The Wesley Euston, a 100-room hotel complete with restaurant/ kitchen and bar, meeting rooms and spaces, as well as a new gym and The Wesley Camden, a 38-room boutique hotel within the Camden Methodist Church building which opened in December 2022 following a £9m conversion.

James Barr, general manager at The Wesley, said: “Both of these accolades couldn’t have been possible without our whole team and their commitment to each other and the environment by abiding to sustainable hotel operations and our eco-friendly initiatives designed to protect our surroundings, minimise our carbon footprint and promote green tourism.

“We had an incredible 91% response rate during the IIP assessment, which is a remarkable achievement. This high level of engagement demonstrates the strong sense of community and commitment to making our workplace the best it can be. Our next goal to work towards by continuing to grow, learn, and support one another is to achieve the Platinum Standard.”
