A town centre hotel in Wiltshire, with a restaurant, function rooms and wine bar, is being brought to the market for £1.8m.The 16-bedroom Peppermill Town House Hotel in Devizes has a five-star rating by the AA and its 68-cover restaurant also has 2 AA rosettes for its contemporary locally sourced British menu.

The property, which was purchased by Philip and Amanda O’Shea in 2012, has been refurbished and upgraded in recent years, and has been brought to the market ahead of their retirement.

Located in the Wiltshire market town of Devizes, the business has multiple revenue streams alongside its letting rooms and restaurant. There is a dedicated wine bar space with 40-seats and its own pizza and tapas style food offering at weekends, as well as a function room on the first floor which can accommodate up to 60 people seated.

Outside there is a courtyard which can host the same number of people again. The property is also licensed to host weddings and civil ceremonies on site, and has a honeymoon suite, complete with Queen Anne four-poster bed. The business generates an annual turnover of in excess of £1m.

Philip O’Shea said: “We purchased the property 12 years ago and have thrown our heart and soul into building it into the business that it now is. We’re really proud that we’ve been able to expand by adding more letting accommodation as well as establishing our own wine bar, award winning restaurant as well as creating a function room space for guests to celebrate the major events in their life, including weddings.

“Having worked hard to achieve all this we now know that this is the right time for us to retire. We’re hoping we can pass on our local, successful business to someone who has the same passion and dedication for hospitality and will become part of the community of Devizes.”

Ed Jefferson from Colliers’ Hotels team, who is marketing the property, added: “The Peppermill Town House Hotel is in really great shape having undergone a recent high-quality refurbishment which includes attractive food and beverage spaces, with a locally-sourced restaurant menu, as well as modern facilities such as air conditioning in each of the letting rooms and the events space.

“It’s no surprise the business is considered the town’s premier hospitality destination thanks to the high calibre of offering established by the O’Sheas. Its ideal location in the town centre cements the expectation that the business will continue its strong trading under new stewardship.”
