The Varsity Hotel and Spa in Cambridge has unveiled the results of its £2m refurbishment of its 44 guest rooms.

The Varsity has attracted a number of A-listers over the years, including the Beckhams, Sir Patrick Stewart, Daniel Craig, Colin Firth, Rachel Weisz, Jeremy Irons, Ralph Fiennes as well as the families of Royal Households.

Each of the newly designed rooms have been created to be “unique with its own individual character” featuring herringbone wood flooring, bespoke handmade rugs patterned wallpaper and either a sandstone or marble bathroom with underfloor heating, and monsoon showers.

The signature corner suite has floor to ceiling glass with panoramic views across Cambridge and a standalone bath in the room, carefully situated to take in the views of King’s College Chapel and St John’s Chapel.

In-room tablets will also allow guests to order room service, make concierge requests and access a full-service directory at the press of a button.

Roberto Pintus, general manager of The Varsity Hotel and Spa, said: “We are extremely pleased to have completed a £2m refurbishment of our 44 guest rooms. The new design reflects the heart of the hotel and represents our constant desire to ensure that all guests have the best experience possible.”
