Plans for a new seven-storey hotel next to Plymouth Argyle’s Home Park stadium has been approved by Plymouth City Council Planners.

The plans include a proposed Western Gateway hotel 156-bedroom hotel, compromising a bar, ground floor restaurant and triple-level gym alongside and a new two-storey veterinary surgery.

Also, the ground floor will accommodate some hotel bedrooms, including two accessible bedrooms, and four others.

Outside the property, permission has been granted for a new 82-space car park, equipped with space for electric vehicles to charge up, and a public pizzaria which could have outdoor seating. The hotel will replace three restaurants and office spaces off Outland Road, Plymouth.

The report added: “With regard to the restaurant, gym, and vets a shell layout is provided, as the detailed layouts for these units will be subject to future tenants requirements.

“While it is considered that each of these units will be satisfactory in terms of providing attractive, usable units that are fit for purpose, it will be required that further details of the internal layouts for these units is subject to a condition.”
