Boutique hotel Oddfellows announces second site

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Chester boutique hotel, Oddfellows, has announced plans for a second site with the acquisition of nearby Bruntwood Hall.

The new hotel in Cheadle, south Manchester, will be named Oddfellows On The Park. Architect Tim Groom has been appointed to transform the property into a 23-bedroom hotel, with a bar, restaurant, treatment rooms and event space.

The completed Bruntwood Hall will mark the first time that the building has been used as a hotel, having previously been a town hall, a racehorse stud farm and more recently a filming facility.

Oddfellows has reportedly been looking for a new site for the past year but has been discouraged by any properties it could not “put its signature spin on”.

Sarah Dougherty, general manager of The Chester Grosvenor, the operating company of Oddfellows, said: “It had to be a property with character. Oddfellows is well known for its quirky design spin on a beautiful period property – and we wanted our second property to do the same. We love adding vibrancy to a period property that has lost its lustre, but still retains all of its charm. This beautiful mansion had everything we were looking for.”

Jonathan Slater, managing director of Oddfellows, said: “We didn’t want to just imitate the success we have had with Oddfellows, Chester. It is important to us that Oddfellows grows and develops as a brand, not as a cookie cutter business model, but with both sites retaining their own personalities and characters – with relevance to their location and history.”
