QHotels appoints first ‘family ambassador’

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

QHotels has appointed its first ‘family ambassador’ in a bid to boost its family-friendly offering.

Sarah Christie, from Lancashire, has won the title for a year and will stay with her family for free at all 21 of the group’s hotels, advising the firm on how to improve the experience for families.

QHotels – which last week acquired six De Vere hotels – started its search for a family ambassador in the summer and challenged entrants to redesign the Quackers activity pack given to children when they check in.

Members of the public were then asked to vote for their favourite entry, before an expert judging panel from QHotels selected the Christie family as the winners.

A statement from QHotels said that Christie’s winning entry was chosen for its “innovation and the judging panel particularly like the mix of online and offline suggestions, including interactive games and characters telling the story of each hotel.”

Claire Rowland, director of marketing at QHotels, said: “It seemed clear to us that parents and our customers are best placed to tell us what we can do to make our hotels even more family friendly.

“By working with a family ambassador, we can ensure we’re staying one step ahead and continuing to improve our award-winning offering. We’re thrilled to work with Sarah as our Family Ambassador for the next year and can’t wait to get started.”
