Expedia launches two new real time products for hoteliers

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Online travel group Expedia has announced the release of two new products to take advantage of its new Real Time Data Platform.

The newly developed ‘Real Time Feedback’ and ‘Sell Tonight’ tools will roll-out globally in 2015 as part of ongoing improvements to Expedia PartnerCentral, the firm’s hotel-facing tool suite.

Real Time Feedback is aimed at mobile-savvy guests, and sends an email shortly after they have checked into a hotel booked through Expedia. The communication asks how the check-in went, how the room is, and whether they are happy with the location. Guests can also leave more specific feedback.

The review is transmitted in real time to the hotelier via Expedia PartnerCentral, giving them the opportunity to act quickly upon the feedback and avoid a potentially negative trip review.

John Kim, chief product office for Expedia group, said: “Our hotel partners have told us time and again that their feedback to a negative review is simply ‘I wish the guest had told us, as we would have corrected the issue. So our product team began ideating how we could troubleshoot that, and Real Time Feedback was born.”

Sell Tonight makes the process of pushing out same-day rates and availability to Expedia.com and Hotels.com “faster and simpler”. Accessible via Expedia PartnerCentral, the system informs hotels in real time of same day rates in their market, providing them with the details they need to better compete and increase same day bookings.
