The Park Hotel in Barnstaple has announced that it is set to undergo a £2m development to modernise the property.
Over the next year South West-based Brend Hotels, which owns the property, will undergo a project which it hopes will transform the hotel into one of the “most modern” hotels in North Devon.
The 40-bedroom hotel will receive a refurbishment to the bedrooms and public areas including new staterooms with balconies, high-speed WiFi, electronic check-in, a new lift and new apartments.
The new bedrooms will all feature high-quality air conditioning, 40 inch Smart TV’s with Sky, power showers, and a focus on latest in-room technology including smartphone entry.
The development will also include the addition of a redesigned terrace bar and lounge, a redesigned and landscaped gardens, a new conference room, a new fitness suite and a new brasserie restaurant with open-plan kitchen.
John Brend, managing director, said: “As a family business, our philosophy has always been to keep improving our hotels to their full potential. With this latest project, we will be taking that approach to a whole new level, with one of the most ambitious development programmes we have ever undertaken.
“We are aiming to create a stylish contemporary hotel which will become a vibrant hub for the local community as well as the perfect choice for business people staying in the area.”
The hotel will remain open while the work is in progress, with the company stating it will minimise any inconvenience for guests at the property.
