Over 4 million Brits expected to take a break for the Jubilee

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Four million Brits are planning to make the most of the forthcoming double bank holiday weekend by taking at least one overnight stay in the UK, according to VisitEngland’s Diamond Jubilee Trip Tracker.

VisitEngland also revealed that a further six million are still undecided about taking an overnight trip because of varying factors such as the weather, waiting for inspiration and hoping for last minute deals.

Chief executive of Visit England James Berresford remarked: “The double bank holiday is a great opportunity to get out for a day trip or short break and discover what England has to offer, and it’s great to see that so many Brits are planning to do just that. The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee will kick off the summer in Royal style and showcase our heritage to the world. Whether it’s cheering on a winner at the Epsom Derby, grabbing a spot by the riverside to watch the spectacular Thames Diamond Jubilee Pageant, or simply getting to know your neighbours over tea and Victoria sponge at a local street party – there is no better time to take a break at home!”
