A poll of holiday makers by easyHotel has identified mobile phone chargers as the most frequently left behind item by travellers, outnumbering toothpaste and toothbrushes.
Growing reliance on smartphones and draining their batteries, means that guests are often caught short when staying in a hotel. According to Ofcom data, 93% of UK adults now own or use a mobile phone.
Asked what items people were most likely to leave behind when packing for a trip, the majority said phone chargers, followed by laptop chargers, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, other toiletries, spare pants or socks, health cards, passports, tickets and books.
Amongst the least likely items left behind by packing travellers were ‘a fondue set’, ‘chest hair mousse’, ‘my Engelbert Humperdinck CD collection’ and ‘soap carving knives’. Several respondents also said ‘my sobriety’.
Jorge Rodriguez, easyHotel’s chief sleep officer, said: “It used to be that our communities were people who lived around us, but these days with social media, our friends and communicates are worldwide.”
