Richard Upton is to put Devonport House Hotel in Greenwich on the market following the successful sale of Eynsham Hall to Ennismore.
The 100-bedroom hotel is currently managed by De Vere Group and consists of 14 modern meeting and conference rooms along with a restaurant and bar facility.
Upton, deputy chief executive of U+I, merged Cathedral Group with Development Securities to form U+I in 2015 whilst privately retaining ownership of the hotels group, which is now being disembodied.
The historic Devonport House dates back to the late 18th Century; a Grade II listed masterpiece by Sir Edwin Cooper, which was later restored by the Cathedral Group in 2011.
The hotel prominently sits within a UNESCO World Heritage site in Greenwich, adjacent to the Royal Park and Maritime Museum and the sale includes a 17th Century Mausoleum within which the remains of Sir Admiral Hardy, flag captain to Admiral Lord Nelson.
The property also includes sculptures endowed to Greenwich by famous sculpture Francois Hameury.
Upton commented: “Following the successful sale of Eynsham Hall to Ennismore, owner of Hoxton hotels and Gleneagles, we have placed Devonport House in the market seeking an owner who can deliver the next chapter of a business success story.”
The hotel is on the market through Knight Frank and Nick Sweeney.
