BPG appoints hospitality specialist amid hotel portfolio expansion

British Power Group (BPG) has announced the appointment of Rhys Roberts as its new hospitality specialist, as part of its plans to widen its portfolio within the hotel industry.

His appointment comes as the hotel industry across the UK continues to develop new green initiatives. He will be joining British Power Group with immediate effect.

For the past 20 years, Roberts has been the owner-operator of the Best Western Tiverton Hotel in Devon, and will now bring his operational hotelier experience to British Power Group’s commercial activity.

He has established successful business interests not only in Devon but across the wider hotelier network, and has sat on regional and national boards as a non-executive director. He is currently a main board director for the country’s largest group of independently owned hotels. 

Roberts said: “I’m delighted to have joined British Power Group, a growing company specialising in the renewables sector, and I am looking forward to delivering a clear strategy of growth in the hospitality industry which is seeing an increasing interest in moving to greener operational measures.”

Steven Cullum, managing director of British Power Group, added: “I am delighted to welcome Rhys to our small but busy and growing team, and this key appointment strengthens our UK position within the hospitality sector. I have known Rhys personally for over seven years, initially as a client and since then as a close friend and valued business associate. 

“With British Power Group’s portfolio products including solar PV, voltage optimisation and EV chargers we are certain we have an attractive offering to UK hoteliers, and with Rhys’ wealth of knowledge of this sector and invaluable contacts I am sure he will be of great value to our team.  We look forward to developing this market together.”

The Kirmington-based sustainable energy provider has £100 million of private investments already in place to fund renewable energy projects for any business interested in reducing their energy bills and “embracing green responsibility at zero-capital cost”.

This includes installing solar PV, voltage optimisation and electric car charge units as well as energy brokerage. With funding already secured, BPG has capital available for any green project over the next two-year period, adding that this is “something which will be of interest to hoteliers across the UK”.
