Cornhill Castle Hotel adds seven new lodges to its offering

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Cornhill Castle Hotel in Biggar, has officially opened seven lodges on the grounds of the hotel, expanding its offering of rooms.

The hotel said the sustainable log cabin style lodges, all named after a Scottish river, add a “luxurious and versatile” staycation offering to the Manorview portfolio.

Set in close proximity to both Edinburgh and Glasgow and the Scottish Borders, each lodge has been designed to “cater to every whim of the short break tourist” who is looking to enjoy a stay with all the modern amenities of a hotel.

The lodges include “high spec fixtures and finishes”, soft furnishings, beds and heritage style interior touches such as chesterfield sofas.

The lodges will be marketed to those seeking a relaxing retreat away and feature a bedroom (with twin or king size bed), living space, private decking area with hot tub, shower room and panoramic views of the Scottish countryside, plus a sofa-bed in the living area, meaning each lodge can sleep up to four.

It added that guests can also tailor their stay with bespoke in-lodge drinks and dining packages which include continental breakfast hampers delivered to the lodge every morning.

Guests can also order picnic baskets for lunch outdoors or at the lodge and the castle chefs have designed a new afternoon tea offering.

Carlton Graham, operations manager at the hotel, said: “We are delighted to be launching our new lodges just in time for summer. Our team has put a huge amount of thought into the lodge design and we’re confident the stunning location and attention to detail will really set us apart from the competition. The location, stunning views and high spec amenities ensure guests can enjoy a calming and luxurious short break all year round.”
