Holiday accommodation availability across the UK’s “most popular staycation hotspots” has fallen to 7% in July 2021.
According to research conducted by hotel booking platform Hoo, the availability represents a 3% month-by-month fall from June’s 10%.
To gather the results, the group analysed holiday accommodation availability for a family of four across 12 UK tourist destinations, including but not limited to the Isle of White, the Lake District, Padstow, and Snowdonia.
Great Yarmouth saw the largest increase in bookings, with unavailability jumping from 78% in June to 98% the following month.
The Lake District also saw an 8% spike in accommodation that was booked up, while Snowdonia and the Cotswolds also climbed 5% each.
Adrian Murdock, co-founder of Hoo, said: “It’s shaping up to be an incredibly busy summer of staycations and we’re seeing the level of available accommodation grow smaller by the day as we reach peak season.”
However, not all regions have seen a growth in bookings, with Padstow’s accommodation availability increasing from 1% to 14% during the period.
Murdock added: “The good news is that in such uncertain times, the chances of a cancellation are higher than they might be otherwise and so we are seeing availability fluctuate in both directions.”
