Splendid Hospitality Group has appointed Jamie Milligan as general manager for the new Mercure Dumfries Cargenholm House ahead of its opening in September 2022.
Milligan started his career in hospitality in Dumfriesshire 16 years ago and has since held senior roles in hotels throughout Scotland, including as general manager of the Holiday Inn Dumfries since 2017.
During his career, he has worked across a range of operations, including leadership, food and beverage operations and HR, training and development, and has local knowledge of the area and hotel market in Dumfries and Galloway to help assist in overseeing the pre-opening of the new 62-bedroom, four-star hotel.
The new 62-bedroom Mercure Dumfries Cargenholm House hotel is located two and a half miles from the historic market town Dumfries. The historic building, which is currently undergoing a complete renovation to turn it into a modern, four-star property, has 62 bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, and event spaces for up to 60 guests and will feature “locally inspired interior and unique design touches reflecting the rich history of Cargenholm House and area”.
Milligan said: “This is a fantastic venture in the heart of Dumfries, and we are excited to be opening a brand-new hotel, offering over 30 full time jobs in the local market. This new appointment offers so many opportunities for me to collaborate with local businesses and connect with my many contacts, and I am excited to be part of the Splendid family.”
