Housekeeping fundamentals

In this episode we speak to Nico Tréguer, co-founder of Roberts and Treguer and The Culpeper Family. Nico spoke about founding the group alongside his longtime friend Gareth, having had a vision for bringing more nature spaces to cities, the planned extension of The Buxton in Spitalfields, and how the site’s storytelling engages guests and the local community, how the Culpeper Family’s core sustainability ethos helped it secure its B-Corp status and why hospitality has a responsibility to educate and innovate when it comes to sustainability.

Deep cleaning helps a hotel to refresh and protect valuable assets while also enhancing the experience and making a great impression on guests. Here are a few pointers on some of the key areas and the products to use.

Carpets

Deep cleaning should be part of the three-stage carpet care regime: daily vacuuming to remove normal dirt and debris; interim encapsulation cleaning and periodic deep extraction cleaning. Diversey’s TASKI procarpet machines simplify carpet cleaning by enabling interim encapsulation and deep extraction capabilities in a single design for the first time.

This removes the need to purchase separate machines for these two critical carpet care tasks, saving capital, supply chain and storage costs. For deep cleaning, the machines are ideally used with TAPI Extract, a low-foaming extraction cleaner with a fresh apple fragrance that is Woolsafe-approved.

Washrooms

Daily cleaning will remove normal soiling but organic residues can build up and provide a home and food source for micro-organisms that not only cause unsightly residues but give off unpleasant smells as they digest the organic debris they feed off. Diversey’s Good Sense Breakdown is an innovative formulation containing enzymes and other active ingredients that quickly and safely remove organic residues. It can be used diluted for routine and daily cleaning of hard surfaces or poured neat into urinals, sinks and drains to deal with persistent and stubborn residues.

Bathrooms

Mould can be an unwelcome distraction in bathrooms that gives a bad impression to guests. Sani Mould Out from Diversey is a powerful grout cleaner that removes mould, mildew and fungus from ceramic and tiled areas in washrooms, bathrooms and leisure facilities. Its highly alkaline formulation also removes body fat and soap scum which helps to prevent bad odours and promotes better hygiene.

Hard Floors

The TASKI swingo 150 scrubber driers from Diversey are available in battery and mains-powered versions and are ideal for cleaning hard floors in small areas and confined spaces including bathrooms, washrooms, dining areas and kitchens. These machines apply 10-times the contact pressure, use 50% less water and chemical and
remove 99% of solution whereas conventional mops typically leave around 40% on the floor. This means floors are cleaner but can be used right away.

Kitchens

SURE Cleaner and Degreaser is a concentrated heavy-duty degreaser for all heavily soiled surfaces in the kitchen, including equipment, cooker hoods and tops, tables and floors. It is part of the SURE range of plant-based, 100% biodegradable cleaning products designed to deliver superior professional results.

Higher Levels

Often neglected during daily and routine cleaning, higher levels should be cleaned regularly to maintain the appearance of a room by removing unsightly dust and cobwebs. Diversey’s High Level Duster makes this much simpler by enabling cleaning team members to reach these inaccessible areas from ground level.

Laundry

Diversey offers a complete set of Clax Magic spot removers that are suitable for almost every type of stain and fabric: Clax Magic Multi is a multipurpose formulation that is ideal for stains such as make-up, ink and curry; Clax Magic Oxi is a colour-safe formulation for bleachable stains such as coffee, tea, wine, cola and fruit juices; Clax Magic Rust is specially formulated for the removal of discolouring caused by rust, tannin and similar substances; Clax Magic Protein contains a combination of surfactants and enzymes for the removal of blood, food, grass and other stains containing proteins. These four innovative formulations remove stains quickly, effectively and gently.

Contributed by  Diversey, which offers cleaning and hygiene technologies that provide total confidence to our customers across all of our global sectors.
