Ruby Hotels has revealed that 76% of its employees feel that the company moving to a 35-hour work week was a good decision.
In October 2022, Ruby implemented a 35-hour workweek at the same salary across all its locations in Europe, in hotels, workspaces, and reservations.
This initiative aimed not only to attract new staff but also to strengthen the retention of existing team members.
Staff reported feeling happier, more energised, and balanced and say the extra time is actively used for sports and other leisure activities.
Despite the success Ruby is still looking to change as employees have expressed a desire to spread the workweek over four days.
Uta Scheurer, vice president of people and culture at Ruby, said: “It is truly encouraging to see that our decision has had such positive effects. However, we are always looking for ways to improve and continuously adapt our model based on our team’s feedback.”
Ruby operates 20 hotels across a number of European cities including London, Dublin, Munich and Vienna.
