Katie Fallon, EVP and global head of corporate affairs, Hilton, has been appointed the vice chair of the board for the International Tourism Partnership (ITP).
The ITP is a non-profit organisation which brings together the world’s leading hotel companies to drive action on issues affecting society and the planet. ITP has four main goals for the hotel sector, linked to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The ITP Goals set a vision for how hotel companies can work together to make a “positive impact on carbon, water, youth employment and human rights”.
Fallon has been a member of the ITP board since 2017 and assumed the vice chair role on 2 April 2019. Fallon was the director of legislative affairs and senior advisor to president obama, before being appointed executive vice president and global head of corporate affairs for Hilton in November 2016.
Fallon has been an active member of the ITP board over the past two years. She has been particularly involved with ITP’s work on human rights, the launch of ITP’s Principles on Forced Labour, and the development of a training module for the hotel industry to raise awareness and tackle human rights risks of modern slavery in operations and labour supply chains.
Chair of the ITP board, Wolfgang M Neumann, said: “I am delighted that Katie will be stepping into the vice chair position. Over the past years, we have seen a lot of momentum, growing ITP and sharpening the value proposition for our members, and Katie has been a very supportive force in this. I look forward to supporting the team in building this further as we demonstrate how our industry is collectively leading the agenda for responsible growth.”
Fallon said: “When it comes to protecting the environment or human rights, there is absolutely no competition in the hospitality industry. Through ITP, the industry convenes to take collective and bold action, recognising the need for collaboration to address the scale of the challenges and scope of the opportunities we face in this Golden Age of Travel. I am excited to be taking up the role of ITP’s vice chair at a time when industry leadership is more important than ever before to ensure sustainable growth.”
