In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Salisbury Green Hotel in Edinburgh has completed a £4.6m refurbishment, which has updated 36 bedrooms located within the hotel’s historic 18th Century building.

The hotel, which is made up of an 18th-Century mansion house and a new “contemporary” extension, Masson House, features 108-bedrooms, a bistro area and a new lounge.

Salisbury Green Hotel and Bistro is now owned by The University of Edinburgh and operated by accommodation catering and events company, Edinburgh First.

Lyndsay Wilkie, director of business development, said: “This marks the end of an intensive period of renovation at Salisbury Green Hotel and Bistro and we don’t think there will be any disappointment among our guests. We’ve worked very hard to ensure the accommodation and service matches its superb location in the city.”

The mansion was originally built in the 1750s and belonged to the Dick family of Prestonfield House and Edinburgh publisher William Nelson, and was bought by Sir Donald Pollock in the early 1940s , after whom the University’s main halls of residence is named.
