Qatar Airways acquires second UK hotel

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

Qatar Airways has announced its second hotel in the UK with the acquisition of the Novotel Edinburgh Park Hotel in Scotland

The 170-bedroom hotel, which will continue to be managed and operated under the Novotel brand by Accor, features five meeting rooms, an indoor swimming pool, gym, sauna, restaurant, bar and 95 parking spaces.

The acquisition follows the company’s first UK hotel in March this year, when it acquired the 350-bedroom Sheraton Skyline hotel at Heathrow Airport in London.

Akbar Al Baker, Qatar Airways group chief executive, said: “The Novotel Edinburgh Park is an excellent addition to our travel portfolio, complementing our five-star hotel the Oryx Rotana in Doha and Sheraton Skyline hotel Heathrow, making it easy for passengers who wish to spend some time in Edinburgh before travelling further afield in Scotland.”

Qatar Airways said that the acquisition is part of its overall growth strategy, which is expected to include further hotels in “key” destinations.
