Comedian Rory Bremner will perform at the Big Event on Monday 27 February, it was announced this week.
Billed as the largest hospitality function ever seen, the Big Event will raise money for industry charities Hospitality Action and the Springboard Charity, by bringing together celebrities and entertainers to perform in front of a packed Westminster Park Plaza.
Bremner (pictured) – best known for his television comedy impressions and his time on BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing – will be joined by celebrity chef Brian Turner and the seven-piece Chance Band.
Chief executive of the Springboard Charity, Anne Pierce MBE, said: “We’re delighted to have teamed up with Hospitality Action to present the Big Event at Hotelympia. It’s going to be the biggest and best charity event for our sector that has ever been held – so everybody in this dynamic industry should get behind it. All of the funds raised will be helping to continue the vital work of both charities as they assist needy individuals across the UK.”
The Springboard Charity has been delivering programmes that directly help unemployed and disadvantaged people get out of poverty and into sustainable jobs in the hospitality, tourism and leisure industry for the last 21 years.
For over 170 years Hospitality Action has given vital assistance to all who work, or have worked within hospitality in the UK and who find they are now struggling. The charity’s chief executive Penny Moore said: “We are all very much looking forward to the Big Event; the perfect way to celebrate a successful Hotelympia and raise much needed funds for both Hospitality Action and the Springboard Charity.”
