Pride of Britain big winner at AA Hospitality Awards 2012-13

Pride of Britain Hotels, the consortium of 44 privately-owned independent British hotels, was the big winner at the recent AA Hospitality Awards, held at the London Hilton, Park Lane.

Hosted by Kate Silverton, the event kicked off with a tribute to the AA Restaurant Guide, celebrating its 20th anniversary, from Heston Blumenthal and Raymond Blanc.

Pride of Britain saw two of its hotels crowned as AA Hotels of the Year for their country and one of its hotel’s restaurants awarded four AA rosettes.

Former hunting lodge, the Torridon, and Bodysgallen Hall and Spa were awarded AA Hotel of the Year in Scotland and Wales respectively.

The Pass, the restaurant at South Lodge in West Sussex, saw its culinary skills awarded with four AA rosettes.

Chief executive of Pride of Britain Hotels Peter Hancock remarked: “We are thrilled for all three Pride of Britain members for achieving success at the highly-respected AA Hospitality Awards, especially given the large number of high-quality hotels and restaurants they were up against.”

Antonio Carluccio OBE was the recipient of the AA Lifetime Achievement Award for his passion and dedication to food, cooking and ingredients across his five decade-spanning career.

Winner of the AA Chefs’ Chef of the Year was Pierre Koffmann, an iconic chef who played a pivotal role in training some of the more well-known contemporary chefs such as Tom Aikens, Tom Kitchin, Marco Pierre White and Eric Chavot.

Lime Wood in Lyndhurst, Hampshire was the winner of AA Hotel of the Year in England.
