The Grove of Narberth hotel has introduced a four-day working week for its kitchen staff to improve the workforce’s employment conditions.
The Pembrokeshire-based country house has reduced the hours of its kitchen team to “achieve a better work life balance and [boost] staff retention.”
The hotel and 3AA-rosette restaurant has always closely monitored the hours of its employees especially in the kitchen.
Owner Neil Kedward said: “Hospitality kitchen staff in particular have traditionally had a raw deal working long hours. We have always viewed the reduction of these hours as a priority for us – particularly in the high season. We want to have a happy and energised workforce.”
The hotel celebrates its tenth anniversary this year since being acquired in a derelict state in 2007.
