Top chefs welcome Taste Accreditation Award

Champion of the north west’s food and drink industry Taste Northwest Limited has launched a scheme to promote food and drink venues across the region.

The Taste Accreditation Scheme recognises the quality of food, use of locally and regionally sourced produce and ingredients, and excellent customer service. Paul Askew; Michael Caines; Brain Mellor; Simon Rogan; and Simon Rimmer are among the ambassadors supporting the initiative.

Accredited venues will be promoted online by Taste Northwest’s partnership with regional tourism boards.

Co-founder and director of Taste Northwest Pam Billington remarked: “We understand that informed consumers want independent and trusted insight on where to eat, which is exactly where we at Taste Northwest come in to promote and support the best in the north west. Taste Northwest’s aim is to showcase local eateries across the north west that provide a quality dining experience from cafés to fine dining restaurants.”

ABode Hotels and Michael Caines Restaurants operational partner and director Michael Caines added: “I think it’s important for people to learn more about the amazing food culture in the north west and make that a reason for them to visit the region. Taste Northwest’s Taste Accreditation scheme will help to celebrate that further and alert people who love food to choose places that support this.”

Taste Accreditation is an annually renewable scheme which recognises the quality of the full dining experience. Assessments are carried out on all types of eateries, from pubs and inns to fine dining restaurants to hotels, and each venue receives an individual score to be assessed year on year. The scheme is available through Taste Northwest in Cheshire, Cumbria, Liverpool and Manchester.

Each participating business receives a written report and overall scores. Scores over 80 per cent receive ‘Highest Quality Assured’ accreditation, while scores between 60-70 per cent receiving ‘Quality Assured’ accreditation.
