Staff at a Newcastle hotel are celebrating winning a trio of prestigious awards just one year after opening.
Opened in January 2012, Sleeperz Hotel is a 98-bedroom premium budget hotel based on the site of a former parcel works that has quickly established itself as one of the city’s leading destinations.
Since opening, the hotel has welcomed 34,000 guests and won awards for its architecture, family friendly facilities and excellence in customer service.
Chief executive of Sleeperz Hotels David Myers said: “We knew when we opened our doors that we were bringing something new and exciting to Newcastle’s hotel scene, but these awards confirm how highly Sleeperz Hotels are rated by the public, travel industry and the finest architects in Britain.”
Sleeperz Hotels specialises in transforming unusual or awkwardly shaped pieces of land close to mainline rail stations into architecturally impressive hotels.
To celebrate its achievements, Sleeperz Hotels transformed an original railway arch inside the Newcastle hotel into a contemporary art exhibition space for hotel guests and the public to enjoy.
ArtintheArch@Sleeperz is a free exhibition that showcases the light-based art of Durham artist Mick Stephenson alongside a photographic story of how the hotel was transformed from dilapidated sheds into it’s a glass-fronted city hotel.
