The Redworth Hall Hotel in Durham has received a £150k investment to transform its Great Hall in time for the summer wedding season.
Dating back to 1693, the property was acquired by current owner Cairn Group in 2016, which has partnered with local suppliers on all decoration, electrical and restoration works at the property.
Changes to The Great Hall include refreshed décor from floor to ceiling with wall panels and traditional wallpaper together with feature curtains lit by crystal and gilt chandeliers.
The original oak floor and the huge stone fireplaces have been restored to create “unique” focal points.
The two entrance lounges have been fully refurbished, with complementary shades of grey and burgundy.
The Great Hall can host up to 110 guests during the ceremony and wedding breakfast, and up to 150 as part of the evening celebrations.
Vince Johnson, general manager at Redworth Hall Hotel, said: “At Redworth Hall Hotel we are immensely proud of the property’s vast history, which has been expertly preserved and uplifted as part of our Great Hall’s recent refurbishment.
“The works have significantly enhanced our functions offering, and we’re looking forward to showing off our new look at our next wedding open evening which offers the perfect opportunity to see the hall set up for an occasion.”
