Shankly Hotel to unveil exclusive Beatles telegram for second birthday

Liverpool’s Shankly Hotel is marking its second birthday with an unveiling of previously never-before-displayed piece of iconic memorabilia.

A telegram from The Beatles to Bill Shankly reveals how the Fab Four wished Shankly and Liverpool Football Club luck in the 1965 FA Cup Final against Leeds, which the team went on to win what would be their first ever FA Cup for the club.

This piece of Liverpool history will be on display in the hotel from the beginning of September.

The telegram which reads: “Best of luck lads we’ll be watching on the tele. John Paul George and Ringo” will be displayed from Monday 14 September until Sunday 20 September.

Chris Shankly-Carline, co-founder of the Shankly Hotel, said: “I still can’t quite believe we have this amazing hotel which honours my grandad.

“He touched so many lives so it means everything that we can give fans, friends and family a place to come that pays tribute to his achievements for the city.

He added: “The Shankly Hotel is everything and more than I ever imagined it would be and its first two years have been incredibly successful so it’s a great achievement for myself and the Shankly family along with everyone at Signature Living.”
