Lake District Hotels has beaten its annual fundraising total of £8,276 with a new grand total of £11,426 for 2017.
Fundraising began in 2016 after Lake District Hotels asked the general public to nominate their favourite charity to become the hotel group’s charity of the year.
Blood Bikes Cumbria, an organisation that provides out-of-hours transport for blood, drugs and other medical requirements between hospitals, was selected after receiving the majority of the votes with over 600 entries.
Dani Hope, marketing director for Lake District Hotels, said: “It’s been a tremendous year working with Blood Bikes Cumbria and raising such an amazing amount of money. It’s a real pleasure to be in a position to be able to help such a deserving cause, a lot of hard work and effort has gone in from everyone involved.”
Rod Wickham from Blood Bikes Cumbria said: “First and foremost I would like to say a huge thank you to the Lake District Hotels Group for selecting Blood Bikes Cumbria as their Charity of the Year 2017. I was speechless to learn the amount of money raised during the year by the hard work from Leah Davies and the hotel staff – I thank you all very much.
“The Blood Bikes Committee will be discussing how to put the money to good use by helping to bring our fleet of vehicles up to date either towards the purchase of a motorbike or car, both are being considered at the moment.”
