Bath B&B sold to international firm

In this episode we speak to Anthony Hunt, partner and co-head of Corporate Real Estate at law firm Howard Kennedy. We discuss why 2026 may be seen as a pivotal year for boutique hotels, unpack the rise of global nomadism and how this is shaping demand and trends across hospitality, and how a strong team and clear, consistent messaging and offerings are key to securing investment.

The Leighton Townhouse B&B in Bath has been sold off a guide price of £1.95m.

Michael and Sarah Jones of Bath Boutique, the company which owns the Leighton Townhouse, recently carried out a relaunch of property, including an extensive upgrade programme, rebranding, a remodelled website and new booking system in 2016. However they have made the decision to exit the business to pursue other interests.

Double Fortune Enterprises also recently purchased the Highway House Bed & Breakfast in Bath last year, which is located down the road from the Leighton Townhouse.

Jones said: “We have really enjoyed owning, upgrading and relaunching the [property] and are delighted be able to pass it on in robust health to the new owners as we move on to our next venture.”

Matthew Smith, director at Christie & Co’s Bristol office, which is handling the sale, said: “We are thrilled to announce the sale of Leighton Townhouse. Christie & Co has had a longstanding relationship with this business, having previously sold it to Michael and Sarah Jones.”

He added: “The buyer pool for Bath continues to expand not only from within the UK, but also from interest overseas with strong demand from Asian investors keen to take advantage of our weak pound and low interest rates, with a desire to acquire proven robust profitable assets, alongside a clear understanding of how to further enhance the trading performance of the business.”
