David Macdonald has been appointed as the new general manager at the Talbot Hotel in Malton, North Yorkshire.

In his new role, David will be responsible for the operation of the recently renovated 4-star hotel. He will also oversee its critically acclaimed restaurant which has partner and BBC Saturday Kitchen chef James Martin at the helm.

He has a long and successful career with Malmaison and Hotel du Vin & Bistro having worked for the company since 2001. In his latest position he was general manager of Hotel du Vin & Bistro in York where he was responsible for a team of over 50 members of staff.

He said: “In my new remit I will be organising speciality food and wine dinners, working with local and national figures and growing the number of weddings at the Talbot Hotel.  I am particularly looking forward to bringing some fresh ideas to Malton and joining the community.”
