A heatwave in late April has caused a surge in B&B bookings for the coming May bank holiday weekends according to data.
The quarterly National B&B Index from online booking firm Eviivo reported a spike in forward bookings for B&Bs across the country for both May bank holiday weekends, up by 4.4% on last year.
UK seaside resort bookings also saw an increase of 5.7% compared with 2017. Some of the top performing resorts include Blackpool, Skegness, Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth and Wells-Next-The-Sea.
Ed Goldswain, marketing director for Eviivo, said: “The May bank holiday is thought to date back to Roman times as a festival honouring the summer season.
“After, quite literally, a beast of a winter, what better way to see in the summer with a break at one of the country’s iconic, family-run B&Bs – a truly traditional British holiday experience.”
