Whitby hotel shutters after 14 years of trading

The boutique hotel which also operated as a restaurant was located on the Marine Parade in Whitby

The Marine Hotel in Whitby, Yorkshire, has permanently closed after 14 years of trading.

According to a statement published on the venue’s website the “devastating economic effect of Covid-19” has forced the business to close. The boutique hotel which also operated as a restaurant was located on the Marine Parade, in Whitby.

It was also revealed a brassiere entitled the ‘Moon and Sixpence’ operated by the same management will no longer be open to the public.

The Marine Hotel said: “With great regret. We can confirm that we will be closing the doors of the Marine and Moon and Sixpence for good, today.

“The devastating economic effect of Covid-19 has brought us to this unfortunate conclusion despite our best efforts to protect the business and the employees.”

It added: “We will not therefore be able to honour any pre-booked accommodation or table bookings and are sadly unable to issue deposit refunds. We would like to take this opportunity to offer our sincere apologies and thank you for your custom over the last 14 years.”
