Raddison Red Glasgow opens new sky bar

In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. We discussed the reasons why Manchester’s visitor market is booming, and their decision to invest in this area, why they see extended-stay accommodation as a major opportunity in what is one of the UK's fastest-growing cities, how they plan to enhance their portfolio of hotels, and their advice for the next generation of hospitality disruptors.

The Radisson Red Glasgow opened its new Red Sky Bar to the public on Friday 11 May.

Occupying the ninth floor of the new Radisson Red hotel, the Red Sky Bar is part of a wider, ongoing revival of the Clydeside area.

The interior was designed by Mark Brunjes, founder of local design consultancy CM Design, and was inspired by the idea of “turning back to the river” to create a destination bar with an urban and unconventional style. The bar also has an outdoor roof terrace for guests to enjoy views of both the city and the river.

Frankie McGovern, food and drink manager, has joined Red from Kained Holdings, where he worked as operations manager across some of Glasgow’s biggest bars and restaurants including Lebowskis and Porter and Rye. Mike McColm and Grant Caulfield will jointly manage the bar.

McColm said: “We want Red Sky Bar to become a favourite Clydeside hang out for everyone, not just those staying at the hotel. We want to create an atmosphere that suits all occasions, be that special drinks to celebrate birthdays, pre-drinks before shows at the Hydro, or a quick pint after work.

“We have been preparing for the opening of Red Sky Bar for such a long time and now that it’s finally here, the team are so excited. Everyone has put in so much work to get everything ready in time for the launch so we can’t wait to see all of the work finally pay off.”
