Hotel booking website Hotel Connexions has entered into voluntary liquidation, and it is estimated that the group now owes around £220,000 to a number of hotels.
The Glasgow-based company has ceased to trade with immediate effect and all employee contracts have been terminated. Its difficulties appear to have stemmed from issues relating to the use and performance of the website.
Ian Wright, managing director at insolvency firm WRI Associates has been appointed as provisional liquidator of the group. He told Hotel Owner that a speculated £330,000 could also be owed to customers.
Wright said: “I am aware that there are many customers and hotels who may lose out because of the company’s failure. All Hotel Connexions customers will be contacted directly in relation to vouchers they have purchased and should await further information from the provisional liquidator.”
