Countrywide Hotels has announced that the Hunton Park Hotel in Watford has been sold to businessman Neal Khanna for a guide price of £16m.
Khanna is the owner of the Denham Grove Hotel, which has been recently refurbished, and the Asian fusion Ponzu restaurant in Buckinghamshire and The Clay Oven, an Asian catering and event company.
He will reportedly spend a further £3m investment on renovating the hotel, including retaining the current team and enhancing the training of employees.
Meanwhile, the 62-bedroom hotel will continue to be managed by the UK hotel management company Countrywide Hotels.
Countrywide Hotels said Khanna was looking to expand his business, and the management company “helped facilitate the purchase” with its listed gardens and social and wedding venues.
The Hunton Park comprises 10 meeting and event spaces, the Huntsman’s Pantry and Bar, and a swimming pool.
Khanna said: “I am very pleased to have acquired the Hunton Park Hotel and add another quality asset to our portfolio. Moving forward the hotel will be called The Hunton Park and it will complement our existing hotel and catering business. I look forward to developing the hotel further into a boutique and destination property.”
Darren Patt, managing director of Countrywide Hotels, added: “We are delighted to be working with Neal on this new project. Hunton Park offers a great business opportunity, it is in a great location and offers a wonderful place to stay, eat and socialise for guests. We look forward to the exciting changes and new phase of the hotel.”
The Hunton Park is located on a 22-acre estate in the Hertfordshire countryside, three minutes from Junction 20 of the M25, near Watford Junction train station and 30-40 minutes from Heathrow and Gatwick Airports.
