The London debut: Hotel Amano Covent Garden

Why has the group decided to make its debut in the UK? As a Berlin-based company, opening our first international property in London was always a natural step for us. Like Berlin, London is a dynamic city known for its thriving nightlife and multicultural community. We felt the spirit of the Amano brand would blend in well here. We’re excited to offer guests a unique hotel and leisure experience, bringing a taste of Berlin to London. Why specifically Covent Garden? Covent Garden is one of London’s hotspots, and given that all our hotels are always located in great central locations we felt it was a great fit for our first London hotel. With so many tourist attractions on its doorstep, like the recently renovated Theatre Royal Drury Lane, our new hotel will make a great base for solo and business travellers, couples, and families wanting to explore the capital, as well as Londoners looking for a new place in central London to hang out, which our rooftop or basement bar will be perfect for. What can customers expect from the mix of Berlin and London? Amano hotels offer sophisticated urban living in a central location at a fair price, and are carefully integrated into the cultural life of a city. We are extroverts by nature and unafraid to be different. All of our hotels are renowned for their distinctive design and immersive drinks and dining experiences. Throughout the London property you’ll find dark moody tones and unique design features from London-based design studio, Woods Bagot, the lead architect and interior designer behind our new hotel. As with all Amano properties the new London hotel has some distinctive art and design features. Framed canvases adorn the bedrooms, a flying light installation hangs in the lobby and a wall installation is strategically placed in the lower ground bar. Fabrics have been sourced from Scandinavian and German design textile companies such as Kvadrat and JAB Anstoetz. Wallpapers have been selected from Elitis and House of Hackney, while the majority of the furniture is bespoke made by Parla Design. Pulling it all together are the hotel’s dark timber veneers and flooring, and natural materials scattered throughout including aged bronze, polished brass and marble. Why did the group specifically decide to partner with Woods Bagot and how were the decisions in regards to the design made? We selected Woods Bagot as our interior designer as we felt they were the ones who understood our vision the most and we felt inspired by their approach. The design process was undertaken by both our team here in Berlin and Woods Bagot, it was a collaborative effort. What cuisines will the hotel offer and has it sourced any suitable chefs? Our head of culinary in Berlin, chef Ronen Dovrat Block, will step in and manage our kitchen team in the run to and during the opening period. Our signature restaurant which will launch in the autumn will offer a Spanish Israeli tapas-inspired cuisine, while the rooftop and basement bars will offer Israeli food.
