Exclusive Collection has announced that David Connell FIH MI has been promoted to director of Operations.

Exclusive said his promotion comes as the independent family-owned hotel company gears up for a strong commercial year and reinforces its commitments to being a certified B Corp.

From 18 July, Connell will oversee Exclusive Collection’s general managers, as well as group purchasing. He will continue as general manager at South Lodge and will be supported by Dan Wait who in turn has been promoted to hotel manager. Wait will oversee the day to day running of the award-winning Sussex property.

Connell joined Exclusive Collection more than 20 years ago and started his Exclusive career at Pennyhill Park. He has played an active role in the wider hospitality sector through his affiliation with the Institute of Hospitality and was Cateys Manager of the Year in 2020.

Connell said: “I’m delighted at this new challenge and can’t wait to get started. Danny and the board are incredibly open minded and provide us all with autonomy which is a fantastic leadership model and one I intend to encourage amongst everyone in the organisation.

“We’ve plenty on the horizon as we embed our B Corp certification, and we make further investment in our people and our properties.”

Danny Pecorelli, managing director, added: “As we continue to grow and get busier, I felt it important to put extra support in with an operational focus, and who better than David having worked with Exclusive for 20 years. I’m also excited to see Dan step in to a new and more senior role too. We are committed to promoting from within and David and Dan’s new leadership roles underline our approach and focus on our people at Exclusive.”
