Construction of London Biggin Hill Airport’s new hotel has reached a “significant milestone” with a topping out ceremony held on site.
The Landing Hotel is set to open in January 2023 and will offer 56-bedrooms and be a four-star property.
The new hotel will be situated at the end of the runway, offering views over the airport from the hotel’s lounge, bar and restaurant, aptly named ‘The Approach’, which is located on the first floor.
Steven Thorne-Farrar, general manager, The Landing, said: “The Landing hotel is nearing completion and our thanks go to the excellent construction team, Barnes Construction, Powell Dobson, Russell Doughty, and Superstructures, for delivering such a beautiful building. We can now move on to the next phase of fitting out the hotel, working with local suppliers and interior designers to bring our vision to life.”
Bob Steward, joint managing director of Barnes Construction, added: “We are pleased with the way construction is progressing, and now the roof insulation and membrane are complete making the building watertight, work can start in earnest on the internal aspects. It also means we can move on to install the roof plant for building services, which includes PV panels.”
