A 10-bedroom mill house hotel and restaurant in the village of Melbourn, Cambridgeshire has been sold off a guide price of £350,000 to new owners.
Sheene Mill is set on the River Mel, located on the border of Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire, and Essex. The country property was formerly a 16th Century flour mill, but now operates as a popular boutique wedding venue and restaurant, with 10-bedrooms, landscaped gardens, pond, and the capacity for up to 180 guests at events.
Previous owner Adam Jordan acquired the site in 2013, and during his ownership extensively refurbished the house into a wedding venue for exclusive hire.
Sheene Mill has been sold to a local businessman, Anuj Awasthi, who is said to have a strong background within the hospitality industry for more than 15 years.
Awasthi said: “I found Sheene Mill to be a good opportunity. As a local, I’ve admired the property for some time and I’m enthusiastic to get started. My aim is to build on the positive reputation and legacy it has over many years now, and most importantly continue to create unforgettable experiences for our customers, old and new.”
Josh Sullivan, associate director in the hotels team at Colliers, who handled the sale, added: “Sheene Mill is a fabulous destination venue with a robust incumbent business producing excellent profits. The seller’s decision to reposition the business as an exclusive hire model has proven to be immensely successful.
“The sale, which garnered a significant amount of interest, further demonstrates the continued confidence in the regional hotel and wedding venue segment despite the impact of Covid and various other socio-economic headwinds.”
