The Station Hotel, a privately-run hotel in Shotts, North Lanarkshire, has had its freehold going concern placed on the market for the first time in 20 years for an asking price of £600k.
The property is a 100-year-old stone-built building with its own grounds, just off the M8 motorway between Glasgow and Edinburgh.
The business has benefited from various extensions over the years, which have been in-keeping with the original property to enhance the trade and income streams.
It currently features a public bar, restaurant, private dining or conference room, and an outdoor terrace and car park.
The on-site restaurant is only one of two in the town and features two function suites that cater for 140 guests, making it a popular choice for locals, with plenty of functions pre-booked for the coming months.
In addition, the venue was recently shortlisted for ‘newcomer restaurant of the year’ and amongst the final three of the Dram Critics Choice Award. It could be run successfully under management or via a lease arrangement with a competent lessee.
Brian Sheldon, regional director at Christie and Co, said: “With excellent road and rail links to Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling, there is no doubt that this opportunity will be of huge interest to a wide-ranging audience.
“The business offers a multi-faceted operation in the middle of the village, next door to Shotts Train Station, which in itself is a key attraction to any prospective buyer.”
He added: “The hotel has been under the same ownership for over 20 years and is now up for sale as the owner seeks retirement after 40 years in the licensed trade. The business was previously run under management until being leased on a short term leasing arrangement.”
