Travelodge, Budget hotel chain Travelodge has opened its first hotel in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire.
The property is the company’s 558th hotel and it’s ninth in Hertfordshire. The hotel opening is part of the group’s plan double its presence in the city, representing an investment of £50m and potential job creation of 200.
The hotel has been styled in Travelodge’s latest contemporary brand design the rooms also feature LED ceiling lighting, a ‘comfort cooling’ system and a 32 inch Freeview TV.
Shakila Ahmed, a travelodge spokeswoman, said: “We are delighted to open our first hotel in Welwyn Garden City in the heart of the town centre, ideally based for business and leisure travellers.
“This hotel opening marks our intention for further expansion across Hertfordshire as there is a desperate consumer need for more low cost and good quality accommodation across the region.”
She added: “We would like to nearly double our portfolio in Hertfordshire and are actively looking for an additional eight hotel sites. This expansion represents an investment of around £50 million and will create approximately 200 new jobs.”
Nnaemeka Eza, hotel manager at the hotel, said: “I am very proud to have built a fantastic team who are as passionate as me about delivering great customer service. I hope that I can also inspire and develop some of my team members to become Travelodge hotel managers of the future.”
