In this episode we speak to brothers Alex and Adrien Grosjean, young entrepreneurs who have recently acquired The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly. The first hotel reservation app developed for Google Glass has been announced.

Hotel Near Me, which was in beta development last May has now been launched by online travel agency, Destinia.com, and is available for download.

Google Glass is a ‘wearable’ device, made by the search engine giant, which is worn like a pair of glasses, and contains a tiny screen positioned very close to the user’s eye.

The app uses GPS technology to find the closest hotel to the user, who is then able to navigate through other nearby hotels by swiping the Glass and filtering them according to price.

By tapping on the device, the user can see more information about the hotel, such as photos, services offered by the hotel and its exact location. It is also possible to use voice commands instead of gestures and to visualise the location of the hotel with augmented reality.

Reservations can also be made, and the app will also provide directions to the hotel’s location.

Amuda Goueli, CEO of Destinia.com, said: “Wearable technology is going to revolutionise tourism in ways that we can only dream of today.”
