Linton Lodge Hotel secures refurb approval

Linton Lodge Hotel has received planning committee approval for a refurbishment and extension to turn the current venue into a 123-room, four-star boutique hotel.  

The hotel, which is currently a three-star hotel in North Oxford, is formed of two converted and extended Edwardian houses with 87 hotel rooms for tourists and business travellers. 

Approval for the upcoming refurb comes as Oxford’s hotel market is currently undersupplied, limiting the city’s tourism and business, as well as driving up the price of local accommodation. 

Changes to the hotel will include the removal and replacement of out-of-date 1970s extensions with “high-quality and sustainable” new buildings to enhance the North Oxford Conservation Area, better revealing and restoring its green garden suburb character. 

Once the project is completed, the hotel is expected to generate an additional £2.1m in GVA to the local economy and £1.7m in visitors spending, as well as facilitate 15 new jobs and construction and supply chain positions.
