The Greenbank Hotel in Falmouth, Cornwall, has recently promoted Matt Garland to hotel manager.
Garland was formerly assistant hotel manager and has been working at the hotel for over 18 years.
Having worked at The Greenbank from age 17, he has held a number of roles since joining as a part-time waiter. He was subsequently appointed as training junior manager, duty manager, restaurant manager, food service manager, food and beverage manager and most recently, assistant hotel manager.
As hotel manager, Garland will oversee the daily operations, staff management, guest satisfaction and overall success of The Greenbank.
Ben Young, managing director at The Greenbank Hotel’s parent group, The Cornwall Hotel Collection, said: “It’s a real honour to announce Matt as the hotel’s new hotel manager – his passion for hospitality never goes unnoticed and this is an incredibly well-deserved promotion. Matt’s career really is a success story within the industry, which has a reputation for catering for stop-gap jobs.
“I’m looking forward to seeing Matt thrive in his new role, as it’s an exciting time for us as we continue to develop our offering to match the demand for good food and hospitality in Cornwall.”
Commenting on his promotion, Garland said: “Being born and bred in Falmouth, I am so proud to be The Greenbank’s Hotel Manager, as it continues to be the heart of Falmouth’s community.
“Over the past 18 years of working here, I’ve come to realise that hospitality is not our rooms or breath-taking views – but the genuine connections we create with our guests and staff. As I step into this new role, I will continue to nurture those authentic connections that we pride ourselves on.”
