The Milestone Hotel and Residences, located opposite Kensington Palace and Gardens, has unveiled its new Stables Bar following a refurbishment and expansion.
The newly reopened Stables Bar and Hideaway honours its heritage as the original stables of the 19th century mansion house, but with the “plush feel of a timelessly classic bar”, featuring dark wood-panelled walls, racing-green leather banquettes, brass table lamps, tartan touches, and corner booths.
Stretching into the space that was once the hotel’s conservatory, the Stables Bar now has a new layout and horseshoe bar, accommodating up to 20 more guests. It also incorporates the new Hideaway – a space for private dining, meetings or events, offering the same ambience of the Stables Bar while being a bespoke meeting space.
Inhabiting the former stables of this mansion house hotel, equestrian nods are noticeable throughout the bar’s décor, design and artwork, including a collection of original pieces by Belgian artist Elie Lambert, such as ‘A Picnic at the Races’ and ‘Changing of the Guard, Buckingham Palace”.
The bar will serve a cocktail menu featuring, for example, the ‘Society of Exploration’, comprising mango vodka, lemon and dragonfruit, and the ‘Olympia’, made with Nuet Aquavit, tzatziki, lemon juice and mastiha.
These more unusual creations sit alongside classics like the ‘Milestone Smoking Old Fashioned’ or the ‘Cucumber and Black Pepper Pisco’, and are complemented by a range of whiskies, gins, Champagnes and more, while Coravin technology facilitates the provision of premium wines by the glass.
A selection of bar snacks and small plates is also available, including yellowfin tuna tartare, wagyu and brisket beef smash burger, or fried sesame chicken with sesame and coriander mayonnaise.
Andrew Pike, general manager of The Milestone Hotel and Residences, said: “The Stables Bar has been redesigned with a commitment to preserving the legacy of this very special building, but with more space and a new layout that offers the refined and discreet luxury our guests are looking for. They can expect a historical ambience, retained through original features and décor, with cosy corners and a striking bar that allows us to further enhance our well-renowned personalised service.
“Hotel residents, locals and connoisseurs alike will be welcomed into The Milestone’s unique home-away-from-home atmosphere and will enjoy intimate surroundings and delicious, innovative cocktails that tell a story with every sip.”
