The Savoy has unveiled its new dining destination, Gallery, floral boutique, The Florist at The Savoy, and new scone shop, Scoff.
The hotel’s new restaurant Gallery serves breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner, with a new cocktail bar mixing “signature” drinks. Menus feature a nod to culinary pioneer, Auguste Escoffier, chef at The Savoy when it opened 135 years ago, through dishes like sole tacos, Cornish tuna tataki and charcoal grilled organic chicken tikka pie.
Designed by Shayne Brady, director of London-based studio, BradyWilliams, Gallery’s interiors are contemporary with the heritage wall panelling being modernised, showing silhouettes of dancing figures recalling one night a couple got up to dance, sparking the “dinner dance craze” of the early 1900s.
The rest of the restaurant features leather seating, “striking” chandeliers and low-level table lighting. As the night starts, a curtain drops behind the bar to signal the start of an evening of drinking and dining.
In addition, The Savoy now has its own boutique from which to create seasonal bouquets for guests to purchase.
The boutique will be led by creative floral design manager, Belinda Bowles, who has been leading the floral team for almost 15 years, decorating the interiors of the hotel with daily changing displays as well as designs for special occasions.
Bunches and bouquets will now be sold alongside a seasonally curated collection of gift products, launching with festive items such as bespoke advent calendars with handmade chocolates and Christmas stockings.
Lastly, the hotel has also unveiled a new scone shop, Scoff, which serves daily prepared twists on the classic baked goods. Scoff scones are filled and topped with new takes on favourites including strawberries and cream, exotic fruit punch, and tiramisu.
Nicolas Houchet, executive pastry chef at The Savoy, said: “It’s been a lot of fun creating the offering for Scoff, and something entirely new for us as a team to come up with. Forget all you think you know about the humble scone. This is a new, revamped version featuring fun and unique flavour combinations, and a touch of Savoy flair. We can’t wait to see what our guests think.”
