The Ibis Coventry Centre hotel, which has recently undergone a £1.2m refurbishment, has appointed Faris Thoweek as its new general manager.
The property is owned by Cannock Group and Hetherley Capital Partners and operated by third party hotel management company Interstate Hotels & Resorts.
Originally from Sri Lanka, Thoweek brings with him a wealth of experience which began while studying in Cardiff and includes periods as GM at Ibis hotels in both Newport and Birmingham.
The comprehensive refurbishment of the 90-room hotel included makeovers for the reception, the restaurant and each of the bedrooms. Updates include features such as hotel wide Wi-Fi, a mobile check-in solution and the I bis trademarked ‘Sweet Bed’ mattresses.
Nicholas Northam, managing director for the UK at Interstate Hotels & Resorts, said: “We are really pleased that Faris is joining the team as we push on across the UK to achieve new levels of excellence wherever we can.
“The wealth of experience that Faris brings will no doubt be very influential in helping the Ibis Coventry Centre hotel continue its success and make sure that the standards of service are in line with the state-of-the-art facilities which have recently been introduced. We can’t wait to see what they can achieve together in Coventry.”
