York’s Middletons Hotel, part of family-owned hospitality group Daniel Thwaites, has appointed Oliver Stott as the new general manager.
With 22 years of experience across the hospitality industry, Stott has carved out a career in management, working in four and five-star establishments across the UK, including Malmaison, Dakota Hotels and Radisson Blu.
Prior to joining Middletons Hotel, he spent three years working for Cedar Court Hotels Harrogate as the general manager. He also worked with Daniel Thwaites at Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa in Leeds as the food and beverage manager, after completing the company’s graduate programme.
He is also a member of the Institute of Hospitality and has recently joined the board of directors for York BID.
Speaking on his new appointment, Stott said: “I’m absolutely delighted to be at the helm of Middletons Hotel, which has historically been well regarded within the local and wider area. Becoming a part of this team is a privilege, and it feels like the perfect time to have joined as I look forward to continuing to contribute to the hotel’s success.
“Daniel Thwaites is a family-owned, welcoming business and I’ve had a wonderful introduction to its award-winning property portfolio. The onboarding process has been second to none and having the opportunity to travel around the other stunning hotels, spas and inns, meeting the teams and central support functions has provided me with great insight.”
Chris Hill, operations director of hotels at Daniel Thwaites, added: “We’re thrilled to appoint Oliver as Middleton’s new general manager and have every faith that he will use his wealth of experience and expertise to continue the hotel’s immense success.
“His passion for the industry, combined with his proven leadership and financial acumen, made him the obvious choice for the role, and we can’t wait to see what he achieves.”
