The Wensleydale Hotel, a hotel in Yorkshire, has hit the market with a freehold asking price of £800,000.
Overlooking Middleham town square, The Wensleydale Hotel comprises 17 ensuite bedrooms, arranged across the first and second floors.
Dating back to the 18th Century and holding a 4-star AA rating, the hotel is also home to ‘The Tack Room’ restaurant, which holds 2 AA Rosettes, as well as a stone-flagged bar for dog-friendly dining, and a small private dining room.
Known as ‘The Newmarket of the North’ with 15 horseracing stables nearby, Middleham is a a picturesque Dales town, with a cobbled square surrounded by stone buildings.
The town features its own medieval castle, which was once the home of Richard III, and is within easy reach of visitor attractions such as Forbidden Corner, Jervaulx Abbey and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
The Wensleydale Hotel also includes an owners’/managers’ apartment, a large and well-equipped commercial catering kitchen, on-site parking, and a pavement license.
Mark Worley, director – Hospitality at Christie and Co who is handling the sale, said: “Our seller clients purchased the hotel in 2019, known then as The White Swan. They have invested heavily in the refurbishment and remodelling of the building’s interior and exterior, and they now offer for sale a lovely hotel with very good ratings and reviews.
“Unfortunately, a change in personal circumstances has made it necessary to sell, but a new owner would be in a great position to take full advantage of the investments made and build on the trade and reputation the hotel already enjoys.”
