The Bellachroy, the oldest inn on the Isle of Mull, is set to undergo a “sensitive refurbishment” after being acquired by Wisteria and Heather.
Under the leadership of Thomas Broom-Hughes and Matthew Broom-Hughes the plans include a fully refurbished hotel, restaurant, and pub.
The Bellachroy currently operates seven bedrooms all of which vary in shape and size as a result of the building’s age.
The refurbishment is set to commence in the coming months but the hotel will remain open as usual from the start of the 2025 season in April.
Additionally, the property’s grounds will be transformed into gardens, featuring native flora, kitchen gardens, and biodiverse green spaces to support local wildlife.
Furthermore, The Bellachroy will embrace a farm-to-plate philosophy, working closely with local farmers, fishermen, and artisans.
Thomas Broom-Hughes said: “Our love for Mull runs deep, and we are thrilled to be stewards of such an iconic place. Our vision is to create a welcoming space where guests can experience the true essence of the island through its food, landscape, and history, while prioritising sustainability at every turn.”
Matthew Broom-Hughes added: “We want The Bellachroy to be more than just a place to stay, we want to welcome everyone to our home, where people connect with the land, the community, and the history of Mull. Sustainability and provenance is at the heart of everything we do, and we can’t wait to bring this vision to life.”
Wisteria and Heather founded by Thomas Broom-Hughes and Matthew Broom-Hughes, is dedicated to creating “sustainable, locally inspired hospitality experiences”.
The company focuses on restoring historic properties with an emphasis on “eco-conscious practices, exceptional hospitality, and a commitment to the local community”.
